Mothers Of Good Shepherd

by Barb Boatner

Mothers of Good Shepherd (MoGs) Brunch is a ministry initiated by a group of moms at Church of the Good Shepherd (Lynchburg, VA), gathering once a month, and providing breakfast and childcare for younger moms. We aim to support and encourage each other as we aspire to bring the beauty and wonder of liturgical living into our homes and learn together what Christ-centered Motherhood and parenting can look like in our daily lives.

We started gathering as moms monthly last fall and have taken the liturgical season we are in each month to explore how we can center our homes around God's story through living in the rhythm of the seasons with its many beautiful feast days and traditions. We love giving the moms practical tools, ideas, and resources to practice the liturgical seasons at home with their children. Above all, we want to encourage the hearts of the mothers and invite them to receive the truths and gifts each season holds for their faith and lives.

“In a world where structures of meaning are largely gone, liturgy - daily, weekly, seasonally - is a gift of order and beauty. A joyful, liturgical home helps our children know that our faith is whole and real: that it belongs as much at our dinner table as at our church’s altar.” The Homely Hours - Liturgical living in the Anglican tradition
