Her Angels from Heaven

During a recent Truro Missions Service Project in April, volunteers from Truro, Fairfax, VA, rallied together to transform the home of Ms. Brooks, an elderly widow residing in Woodbridge, VA. In just two days, their collective efforts made a remarkable difference:

  • Painted four bedrooms

  • Painted two baths, kitchen, living room, den, and a hallway

  • Installed a bathroom floor, kitchen, and ceiling lights

  • Repaired interior and exterior doors

  • Fixed drywall and installed a wall panel

  • Renovated and painted the outside deck

  • Rebuilt a fence

  • Revamped plant beds and trimmed bushes

  • Planted flowers

  • Improved soil drainage by re-grading

  • Cleaned siding and gutters

  • Mowed the lawn

  • Provided breakfast and lunch for volunteers and the homeowner

Despite adverse weather conditions, including rain, many volunteers persevered until the completion of the project, even assisting with moving furniture and rehanging wall decorations. Their dedication and hard work resulted in a home that was not only repaired but also enhanced. Ms. Brooks refers to the volunteers “her angels from heaven!”
